Community Football Awards

How we celebrate grassroots football heroes with our McDonald’s Welsh Community Football Awards

The annual Welsh Community Football Awards celebrate the hard work of the unsung heroes who make grassroots football tick.

Every year, along with our partners McDonald's, we take nominations for award winners in the following categories.

  • Volunteer of the Year (The People's Award)
  • Young Volunteer of the Year
  • Community Club of the Year
  • Grassroots Impact
  • Community Coach of the Year
  • Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Mum of the Year
  • Football Restaurant of the Year
  • Fun Football Provider of the Year

A then decides the winners, who receive their awards at a glitzy ceremony before a home Wales international match.

Why do we have Welsh Community Football Awards?

Grassroots football makes a vital contribution to the health of the national game and we recognise these clubs and individuals with the Community Awards.

They are a great opportunity for us to celebrate the dedication and commitment shown by clubs, coaches, players and volunteers, across Wales.

Here are full details of each category...

Grassroots Impact Award

This looks to reward a project or organisation who have enabled a group of players or volunteers to access football and have evidenced a significant and positive social impact through engagement in football. This could include creating opportunities for those with notable physical or mental disabilities, removing barriers to BME participation, growing the girls game or any other football activities that have benefited society.

Volunteer of the Year (The People's Award)

Across Wales, every evening of the week and every weekend of the year, there are thousands of dedicated volunteers who go unnoticed. But these individuals are essential to our national game, so this prestigious award is a wonderful way to recognise the heroes who coach, organise and administer football, helping others and growing the game.
